Description

According to many SAIS Women Leaders, cultivating and maintaining a network of powerful allies is the most effective way to advance your career and/or grow your business. How can you ensure that you are building meaningful relationships with the right people?

On Wednesday October 10th, from 6:30pm - 9:30pm in SAIS’s Kenney Auditorium, The SAIS Women’s Alumni Network (SWAN) will be facilitating a workshop where you will learn how to leverage your character and competence to create, cultivate and capitalize on break-out career opportunities.

We will begin the skills session with a panel of powerful SAIS alumnae relationship-builders including Jeanne Balcom ('86), Vice President, Regulatory Policy at Options Clearing Corporation , Krystle Veda Kaul ('09), Director of Strategic Communications and Public Affairs at the Defense Threat Reduction Agency, and Joanna Pineda ('91), CEO & Chief Troublemaker at Matrix Group International.

We will then hold an interactive workshop that focuses on the following key principles:

  • How to exchange mutually beneficial information
  • How to demonstrate your character and competence to build trusting relationships
  • How to transform relationships from associates to allies

After this workshop, you will be able to create and execute a relationship management plan to accelerate your professional success.

Your registration fee will help us cover the costs of a dinner reception (vegetarian and gluten-free options available). Don't miss this opportunity to build your team of powerful allies!

This event is open only to SAIS Alumni.

The Johns Hopkins SAIS Women's Alumni Network (SWAN) was launched in 2014 to position SAIS alumnae as leaders in international relations and related fields. The alumni group quickly expanded with the launch of leadership hubs in Washington D.C., New York, London and Brussels to bridge a global community of active and engaged SAIS alumni. Throughout the year, SWAN hosts a diverse line-up of programming in professional and career development, roundtable discussions, film forums, mentorship and networking opportunities. It also has a dynamic online community via LinkedIn and Facebook.

SWAN is a key pillar of the broader SAIS Women Lead (SWL) initiative. SWL brings together alumni, students, faculty, policymakers and market experts to promote women in leadership. It is a program of action: to educate and train leaders, assess impact, leverage SAIS technical expertise, drive discussion and build community. In addition to alumni engagement via SWAN, SWL includes the Global Women in Leadership student organization, the Women Who Inspire lecture series and the recently launched academic curriculum, SAIS Global Women’s Leadership Development Program.
